Let us cast a romantic spell over you with music of incomparable feeling and beauty. We could all use a little more passion in our lives, and this concert is guaranteed to do the trick!

Dominick Argento: Valentino Dances: Suite from The Dream of Valentino

American composer and Pulitzer Prize winner Dominick Argento scored these dances from his opera The Dream of Valentino for full orchestra. Sweeping and romantic, their infectious melody makes clear why Argento is known as one of our finest living composers.

Johannes Brahms: Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77

Featuring Yevgeny Kutik

Brahms composed this violin concerto in 1878 and dedicated it to his friend, the violinist Joseph Joachim, who considered it to be one of the four great German violin concerti (joining Beethoven, Bruch and Mendelssohn). Brahms's only violin concerto, this work is very demanding technically as the soloist has an abundance of multiple stopping, broken chords, rapid scale passages, and rhythmic variation.

Pyotr llyich Tchaikovsky: Romeo and Juliet, Overture-Fantasia

Tchaikovsky spent more than a decade perfecting this symphonic poem based on Shakespeare's play of tragic romance, finally arriving at this third and final version. The beautiful love theme is widely considered one of the greatest melodies ever written and is certain to be recognized from its numerous appearances in television series and movies.
